motility and craniosacral therapy
Hello, I believe my 4 mo old had silent reflux and is now on an NG tube. She is taking 50% of her food orally and the remainder is tube fed. I am hoping to get out of the food aversion cycle as fast as possible. I am interested in having my doc put her on motility medication, but they will not without doing a gastric emptying study. I am not certain I am ready for the radioactive material part of the study. Thoughts? Also, has anyone found craniosacral therapy to be helpful? I suspect it would be. Any thoughts?

Welcome! Sorry it took so long to get a response... I can't speak to the radiation element of the gastric emptying study, having no direct experience with that particular test, but I can empathize with the challenge of facing the introduction of toxins into your child's system. I will never forget the pain I felt knowing that my then newborn was being exposed to all sorts of toxic substances, most of which were life saving, but nonetheless left me feeling concerned about how it might all affect him in the long term. I don't know that there is ever an absolutely clear choice when it comes to these decisions -- in my experience, it's all about weighing the pros and cons and then trusting intuition.

We use cranio-sacral therapy with my son and I have been very pleased with it, for all manner of issues. In his case I found it to be very important to find a good match between him and the practitioner, someone he felt comfortable with and who was able to respond to him in an intuitive way.
