Transitioning from a wedge/sling to sleeping flatHas anyone made the transition with their babe from using a Tucker wedge/sling combo to sleeping flat in the crib? My 1 yr old has been sleeping in a sling since 4 months, and we are now trying to get her to sleep flat in her crib and she is not sleeping, or napping! Help!

Lorenzo b.4/25/07 1 week in NICU w/ aspirate pneumonia from a reflux episode; diagnosed GERD at 9weeks; Used Zantac for 5months. Currently using Chinese Medicine and Craniosacral Therapy. GERD, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Sensory Processing Disorder. Ask me about breastfeeding a refluxer! Pic: day 5 in the NICU.
|I wish I could be or more help, but my son still sleeps on an incline at 5 years -- though now it's pillows. At 1 year, pillows are not recommended, though I will confess to having used them for my son since I couldn't find any other alternative that allowed for any sleep at all and I decided that the risks didn't outweigh the known risk of both of us getting no sleep -- and I do mean NO sleep.|
Are you attempting the transition because she's outgrown the sling?

Ideas we used You can install the mattress so the head is on notch higher than the foot, that still elevates the head. You can put a pillow, rolled up sheet, some books, whatever, under the head of the mattress to elevate the head. You can also do that when you transition to a toddler bed and then a real bed. That way you can control how high you are elevating the head. Once my son was big enough we put blocks under the legs at the head of the bed to elevate.
Hope this helps and that the reflux is outgrown soon.
