lactolase? and claritin dosage question
I notice a lot of talk about miralax as a stool softener, but our GI prescribed lactolase. Has anyone had luck with it. I have eliminated dairy during breastfeeding and haven't introduced it to my son who is 13 months, so I'm not too sure about trying this stool softener because it has lactose in it. Also, he is pretty congested, I'm interested in trying claritin. I've seen 2.5 mg daily as a recommended dose. Does that sound right?

Jedd uses both.

As far as Miralax, the GI said it is not habit forming and as long as he needs it to keep using it. He is 5 and does a little over a capful a day split in two. Not sure about the lactose thing because Jedd has no issues with it, sorry!!

Claritin, Jedd took the full 5ml dose since about 18 months old. I'd run it by your Ped and see what they have to say just to make sure. You don't want to do it unless they say OK.

With allergy meds, we have had to rotate meds to see the best results. It seems like we used Claritin for almost a year and then it really wasn't working too well. We switched to Zyrtec and did fine for about another year.

Now we just rotate between the two and do just fine. During the months he needs more (seasonal allergies only) we do a nasal spray, Nasonex, by RX.

those two added together worked great.
