Concerned about long term use of Miralax
These PPI drugs really constipate Kavya. When she was taking Prevacid with BB, her constipation was managed with prune juice and coconut water. But with Prevacid on its own she is terribly constipated and the prune is just not helping. I think the calcium in the BB was helping a little before.

Anyway, I have started giving her Miralax (1 tsp every day). She weighs 30 lbs and is 3 yrs old. What dose where you giving? Also, for those of you who have used Miralax long term, how did the body react when you stopped using the Miralax? I don't want her to be dependent on Miralax for her whole life. My hubby as a young child was given laxatives and to this day his bowel movements are messed up and now docs are saying it was probably due to long term use of laxatives.

I wouldn't worry about long term use of Miralax. It's not a stimulant, it just makes everything softer. On purees, he did fine, it was "real" food that stopped him up.
