Buffer babies not available...help!
Kavya has been taking Prevacid/BB for a long time now and I had requested a BB order recently from the reflux solutions lab and I got a response from them today saying "Reflux solutions is no longer making its product available. Please contact your physician for questions regarding acid reflux." What?? Anyone know what is going on? I will send an email to Dr. Phillip and see if he responds but please let me know if anyone has any info regarding this. Now, what next? Prilosec never suited her before and so not sure if Zegrid will be an option. Prevacid granules on its own was never that effective and I always had a hard time getting an empty stomach especially at night. Zantac was never that effective. Nexium never suited her. Help!

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
I sent an email to them as well. I will let you know what I find out.

I wonder if Zegrid or whatever is needed (caracream?) to make that will even be available. Have you ordered zegrid or whatever component is needed for that from them recently??

Zegerid already has sodium bicarbonate (caracream) in it. The head pharmacist that created Zegerid is Jeffrey Phillips from MARCI-Kids. It is Priolosec plus sodium bicarbonate (caracream). I may not have the rest of story perfectly right but it is close.... Jeffrey sold the rights to Zegerid to the pharmacutical company Sartos but was allowed to continue his research and keep caracream for our kids. Zegerid comes in powder packets that you mix with water fresh for each dose. You stated that priolsec did you suit your LO in the past but perhaps it will in the Zegerid form because of the sodium bicarbonate buffer. It is certainly worth a try when you run out of your caracream. Also know that more and more pharmacies are getting better at making the liquid versions as they following the compounding guidelines of the necessasry amounts of sodium bicarb and not adding flavoring. Hospital pharmacies seem to be catching on the fastest.

You will need a script from your doc to get the Zegerid Powder Packets. Ryan became PPI free in June so I have not ordered any. That said, I did send an email to David at Reflux Solutions to see how exsisiting families can continue to order it while they work through their funding issues.

Check with your
doctor first!
