prilosec YUK!!
We are just trying out Prilosec (pharmacy made a suspension) to see if it makes a difference with our current flare-up. (We were on Prevacid solutabs which at least went down fine). Well my 11-month old HATES the taste and I tried a tad and it is AWFUL. Bitter, nasty stuff. I'm sure some of you know all about it, but how did you get your little ones to take it????? He won't touch it, even mixed with juice.

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
It tastes bad because if they add flavoring to it, it will become unstable very quickly. Ryan hated the caracream/prevacid suspension at first, but I didnt give him a choice. I sat him on my lap, tipped him back, squirted it between him cheek and gum back where the molars would be if he had had any, then I popped his binky in his mouth. Mean? Yes. Necessary? Definately. Worth it? Totally! After 6 days he didnt fight me any more and after 2 weeks LOVED it and he figured out that it made him feel better so he opened up willingly. Stick with it mom. Tough love. They adapt to flavors really quick.

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site:
We put it in Jedd's feeding tube!! LOL We only used a liquid PPI because we had to at that point. We were out of options, everything else clogged the tube, which is bad....LOL

He did eventually take it orally really well. But that is due to intense feeding therapy at home. He has literally eaten something and told me, I don't like it at all but I'll eat it..LOL

What about Prevacaid solutabs? They melt pretty well and Jedd takes them orally (no feeding tube now) and he doesn't complain.

Check with your
doctor first!
