We have been struggling with my 11-month old to get his meds adjusted with a recent flare up. I just got off the phone with a nurse with his specialist and apparently the Prevacid dosage my doctor recommends is not covered by insurance (30 mg Prevacid daily).

We can try another medication (Prilosec was mentioned) to see if that works better. Has anyone had any luck with one medication working vs. another? What have other people done when insurance fails? This is SO frustrating! Not to mention that I don't think we have found the right dose in the first place...

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
I skipped insurance, bought the PPI over the counter (at first prevacid and then moved to Zegerid) and mixed it with caracream from Made it into a liquid which is sooo much easier to find the right dose, and you don't have to time it around food.
