Does my son need an endoscopy?Hi, my 3.5 yr old son suffered from painful reflux from birth. He was on 20mg losec up to 12 months of age and neocate formula until two. He has cows milk protein intolerance and suspect he may have other intolerances, possibly wheat and salicylates. He also had a feeding aversion until 18 months of age. He now eats fantastically, is not on medication and does not complain of pain HOWEVER in the past 8 or so months he visibly refluxes A LOT. Some days are worse than others. He has also woken nearly every night for the past year.
3 weeks ago we stopped giving him tomatos and broccoli and his refluxing has reduced dramatically and he has slept through almost every night. He is booked to have an endoscopy next month (the gastroenterologist didn't sound like he thought it was essential but has booked him in to ease our concern). I am wondering if anyone else has had a child who does not complain of pain, obviously refluxes and has had an endoscope and discovered there is a problem?
I'm really confused whether to have the procedure as I know there are risks. Any advice?

|If you post this in the Infant/Beginner forum, you will get many more responses, as this one is infrequently checked for questions/advice. In you post there, you may want to include whether he has had a pH Impedance Probe or any other diagnostic testing, as that would give a lot of information about the nature of his reflux (whenever it was done).|
