Sippy CupsMy son is 9 months old and had his follow up swallow study recently. He still has a very disorganized swallowing patttern and is at high risk for aspiration, so in addition to thickened formula, he is still on the level one nipple, which he needs for flow control.
Because of this, the speech therapist who was doing the study said that she would not recommend using sippy cups yet because they do not have any flow-control. His next study won't be until after he's a year old.
I'm afraid that if we wait until then to introduce sippy cups, it's going to be a rough transition. Does anyone know of a sippy cup that is slow-flow (equivalent to level one nipples)?

|IDK, most of the sippy cups with valves that I have sucked out of really took some sucking to get the fluid out of them.....I would think it would be fine but I wouldn't go against orders though. Not at all, do what they say. |
I mean, some of them, I really had to suck hard and if you tip them upside down, they don't even leak and a bottle doesn't do that.....
