Lorenzo b.4/25/07 1 week in NICU w/ aspirate pneumonia from a reflux episode; diagnosed GERD at 9weeks; Used Zantac for 5months. Currently using Chinese Medicine and Craniosacral Therapy. GERD, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Sensory Processing Disorder. Ask me about breastfeeding a refluxer! Pic: day 5 in the NICU.
|Yes, congestion and reflux often go hand in hand, since the refluxed material can easily move up into the sinuses. Be forewarned that, prior to about the age of 2 years, the same is true of the ears -- which can lead to chronic ear infections.|
I wouldn't automatically be concerned about aspiration as a result of having reflux related congestion. The typically developing brain is incredibly competent at keeping material in the digestive system out of the respiratory system. May I ask what the heart issue is that prompted the monitor?
