Twins with Reflux on Neocate with Projectile VomitI am a parent of twins born @28 weeks. My wife was breast feeding until we found they both had a milk protein and soy allergy. We tried several different formulas including allementum and finally were able to digest Neocate.
My sons are now out of the NICU and have been diagnosed with Acid reflux and frequently projectile vomit. We are on 15mg lansaprozale once daily with one son and twice daily with the other both take mirilax for constipation.
We have tried thickening their feedings with oatmeal and then rice but have seen no real change. They still vomit and sometimes it goes through the nose and they are unable to breathe until we clear it out with a syringe.
We keep them elevated during and after feedings. We sleep them in an elevated bed but still encounter the vomiting. Our GI has said that this is just something that will go away and we have accepted that. He has also instructed us to begin feeding solid foods and that may help. The boys are 10 weeks (corrected age) and do not really take the solid foods very well. We are just looking for some tips that other parents may have found helpful. We may try going back to the rice but if you have any other suggestions we would be eternally grateful.
