Salmonella
I don't want to freak people out , but I wanted to let you know what we are going through in my house. My daughter is almost 6 months old and was just dx with Salmonella. She has been on prevacid and zantac since she was 2 months old due to reflux. For the past week she has had diarreha with a low grade fever. At the beginning of last week there was blood in the diarreha so I had to take stool samples. It came back positive for salmonella. There are numerous possibilities on how she could have contracted it, but I'm thinking she got it from me as I was sick with diarreha for 6 days and unfortunately I guess I didnt wash my hands good enough. As I researched more, I found that "Antacids can facilitate salmonella" so an FYI our babies can get salmonella more easily because of their medication, so please have everyone that comes in contact with your babies to please practice good hand washing.

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
They are definitely more prone to illness of the stomach including salmonella and food poisoning due to the diminished amount of acid in their stomaches to kill off some of cooties that make their way into their systems. So sorry to hear you have all been so sick that is terrible. Hang in there!!
