could it be dge
My son is now seven months old and we are still trying to get his reflux under control. He has mostly been a silent refluxer with occassional vomiting at times. Two weeks ago I started taking him to a pediatric chiropractor and increased his prevacid from 22.5 to 30mg a day. This had an immediate positive affect and the majority of the last two weeks he has had mostly good days. Which is a first for him. But three of the last four days have been bad. I thought two of the days were bad because he had infant oatmeal in the morning. But today no oatmeal and a really crappy day. He threw up three times and woke up crying from most of his naps. He is teething right now which i now makes it worse but I am wondering what the heck changed. He is also on 3ml of zantac twice a day and 1.5ml of lactolose twice a day. He has had a negative endoscopy last month. The only other thing I can think of is DGE. Would he vomit more often than sometimes? Also would that cause constipation? Is it worth it to check a scan?

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Teething can be really really brutal on our refluxers. Way more puking, acid production crabbiness. It also slows digestion waaaaay down. We would end up in ER for fluids every time he was teething until I started adding caracream to the prevacid. Only that combo could keep up with with all the extra acid from teething.

So I think im gonna try caracream again. I have left a message for David because not sure what the best way to go is. About three months ago we tried the caracream with the 24 prevacid and he had the worst day ever so I immediately stopped. Not sure if should try that again or something else. Also when i was cutting open the caplets for the 24 hour the beads would fly everywhere and pieces of the caplet would get in the mix. Any suggestions how to make that better? I would think the pieces of capsule would be okay in the mix since they should dissolve. but any suggestions would be great!

If you still have some caracream I would try again. Could have been totally unrelated to the bad day. As far as opening the capsules, I tap the capsule, hold it over a bowl and use a manicure scissor to cut a slip in the tip of the capsules. Squeeze it a bit and it will pour out into the bowl. After I open all 14 then I pour it into the mixing bottle with a funnel. You'll get the hang of it. You might also want to think about using digestive enzymes. They can really help in times like this.

we are in the thick of DGE right now got the go ahead from neurology to start gis request for reglan. Scared to death but at this point it is our only option. If you think it is DGE then request a milk scan or gastric emptying scan. The other symptoms that could tell if it is DGE is that when he vomits it is "old" milk. Also bowel issues arise like constipation. my daughter would vomit when her belly got to the point it couldnt hold anymore and it seemed like she was puking everything she owned. The amounts were were mindblowing.
