Generic Prevacid gone?
We went to pick up Soren's prescription and were told Teva is no longer making their generic version of prevacid so were given name brand prevacid (at a huge cost $41 - for 10 pills :( The problem is there must be more dairy in the name brand prevacid b/c my son was up all night arching and balling up. I have CaraCream so am thinking of just switching to that now and getting the capsules myself. I held off after I ordered it b/c the generic prevacid finally started working. He went from up every 1 - 2 hours to only up 1-2 times/night which was huge. Has anyone else had this problem?

Liquid Prevacid
Not sure if it would make a difference, but we use the liquid compounded Prevacid for our twins. The pharmacy mixes and prepares it - one bottle lasts about a month - per child. We don't seem to have any problems with the liquid - you may want to ask you dr about switching to liquid if there is a pharmacy near you who does the compunding.

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
I'd get the capsule OTC and mix it with the Caracream since you already have it. I do not know brand Prevacid to have dairy or lactose in it. Could be unrelated.

I was able to locate 110 generic tabs at our grocery store pharmacy and our doctor wrote a prescription for 110 :) What an immediate difference! He went from spitting up day and night back to his normal spit up after nursing. And went from up every 1-2 hours to sleeping 4-5 hours at a time. I know I should just switch to the caracream but I want to find a new GI to work with.
