Zacky progress report
hi all, I thought I'd post about the progress Z has made in the last few months. We are finally off Elecare and pediasure...and I THREW OUT THE BOTTLES!! hallelujah! He's wating three meals a day...we're pretty low on the nutrition scale and it's still the bare minimum, but he's EATING real food. Breakfast is a slice of cheese and a box of juice, lunch is usually pepperonis, cheese, juice and cheetos...dinner is hot dogs, mac n cheese, pizza or chicken nuggets...Dare I say it, he almost sounds like a normal toddler?? The Zegerid seems to be working well for him...no more coughing at night and he actually tells me he is hungry occasionally...he's still not super experimental, but he definitely is better. It's like a new kid...now if he'd just have a growth spurt!!!! :)

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
Hallelujah is right!!! Ya Hoo!!!!!!! I am thrilled for you guys!! You guys have come such a long way!!! Yes, he is eating like a normal toddler!!

If you are concerned about the nutrition content and he wont take gummy vitamins there is a brand of liquid vitamin called Kids Calm. It tastes like Sunny Delight juice. Ryan LOVEs it. When I was trying to get Ryan caught up on the weight chart I would add Carnation Instant Breakfast to his milk that he drank before bed. Half a packet... A full packet in whole milk was too thick. I never did it during the day because I didnt want to fill him up so he wouldnt eat food. Bedtime was perfect though.

I am so glad the Zegrid did the trick.. I swear that stuff is a wonder drug.

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
Oh man, this IS fantastic!!!! I hope you see that growth soon!! I bet you will actually see the normal toddler eating increase right before one. Oh and I tell you just because we worried about it with Jedd.......every once in a while we notice how skinny he "looks"....it's because he had just hit a growth spurt. It used to worry us until we started seeing the normal increasing in eating, getting a little bit of chub on his bum and hips and then he shoots up some!!

Jessica, I've been aspiring to your success with Jedd for so long now...it's a whole new world...we actually order food for him at a restaurant. My husband went to pick up Carls Jr last night and I told him to get Z the kids nuggets...he totally forgot (it's new to him, can you blame him)...well, Z ate half of a cheeseburger and some fries! it was awesome. I know we weren't tube fed, but BOY were we close a LOT...and few people know what it's like to have to feed our kids in public...it's SOOO much better now. He's still better at home without distraction but he's WAY more normal now...and my heart doesnt skip a beat every time he hiccups or burps...
