Mar 05, 2011 vigilantmom Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Mar 07, 2011 zack'smom Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs. Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly. Still on prevacid and periactin. | actually he seems to be doing OK reflux wise...teh Zegrid is much easier for him to take and I get no arguments about it.
Eating is still a challenge...he just doens't like it at all, BUT we have now been three weeks Elecare and bottle free...it's a constant struggle, but lunch and dinner and getting easier...breakfast is still a problem, but I'm switching things up and trying different motivations. We still ahve throw up once in a while, but I've come to realize that if he gets worked up he physically CANNOT stop it which takes a little stress off. I've been working on tactics to help him calm himself when he gags or burps up some thing....I ahve him breathe...take a sip of juice or whatever...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, but we're still in a FAR better place than a year ago. :) |

I cant believe he is still a puker! You would think his stomach would stretch out and handle some capacity one of these days. No new carpet for you yet. Perhaps Elecare polk a dots will be all the rage soon. : ) Speaking of.. Congrat on dumping the bottle and the Elecare. That is a HUGE step forward!!! |

Did I tell you guys that the endoscopy showed a hernia? basically anytime abdominal pressure is executed his hernia activates and empties his stomach into his esophagus...if he can calm down he can often stop it, but not always. now that I realize there is a medical reason why he throws up it's a lot more manageable and frustrating. And he throws up maybe once a week...sometimes not even that. I can deal with it. Our other option is surgery to correct which is basically a fundo...I'm not OK with that. |
