PPI + Zantac dosing question
I swore I was told to give the PPI and Zantac far apart b/c there were problems if they were given together. We went to a GI today (new one) and she said to give the Zantac 30 min before the prevacid. Is this right???? I was so irritated when I left b/c she basically suggested I pump 24/7 so I can add rice to his feedings (he's not losing weight and not spitting up THAT much but does spit up his prevacid in the AM). I feel like the appt was a complete waste :(

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
You are correct. Prevacid and Zantac have to be spaced 2 hours apart. Have you given more consideration to changing to Buffer Babies or Caracream Z? I know I sound like a walking ad campaign but it is so much easier and effective.

I was hoping the GI would switch us to Zegrid but she was running on some sort of stupid autoscript that she had in her mind for "new" reflux patients. I want to wait one more week before I tweak anything else b/c we are 1 week into me splitting up his prevacid dose so I know that screwed things up. Nights are getting better - we've gone from me having to hold him upright and pat him for 2+ hours after each feeding down to 1 hour and gone from 3 night wakings to 2 so I'm sleeping at least a little bit. I know it's stupid but since prevacid alone worked for my daughter and kept her largely symptom free I feel like I should make sure it's not really working before I make a change. I'm so irritated with the appt we had today. I need to see if anyone has GI recommendations for the Philadelphia area. Oh she also said he was "skinny" so the rice cereal would help. He's in the 75% for weight (he is skinny b/c he's in the 90% for height but still he's gaining weight and doing fine and my other kids are skinny and so were my brother and I as children. sorry random rant but I was fuming after we left the hospital this morning :(
