Soren 11 weeks - (GERD, Soy and Dairy sensitive) 15mg prevacid + 2mg zantac
DGE?
I gave Soren his prevacid at 7:15 am (2.5 hours after he nursed last) waited 35 minutes then nursed him at 7:50. I nursed him again at 8:30 (I usually do one side - stop burp take a break then finish so that he's not gulping too much at once). Anyway - he spit up at 8:50 and there were prevacid spots in there (he's on the solutab) We have our first GI appt next Tuesday so I'm just not sure what they can do. Night time has gotten worse and worse over the past week. We went from a good 6 hour stretch first thing to him being held almost the entire night except 2 - 1 hour stretches on his own. He's happy during the day (for a reflux baby) but night is absolutely horrible.

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
the beads in prevacid are enterically coated and meant to be time released...they are actually designed to stay in the stomach for long periods, so that wouldn't be a necessary sign of dge. My son would refuse feeds, so he would go 5 or 6 hours without feeding and still be able to throw up his morning milk...he was a classic case of DGE...it's really hard to diagnose a "normal" infant as they feed more often and it's always the same thing. They can do a swallow study, but it's a "moment in time" so it's not really reliable. usually the doc will trial erythro or reglan to see if the child is helped. Good luck.

Thank you - that makes a lot of sense now and makes me feel better! He definitely is refluxing for a good 2 hours after he eats but I don't know if that means there's food in there or not. I'd be ok trying the erythro but the reglan makes me nervous since I had such bad side effects with it myself.
