tucker sling/ar pillow/pedicraft reflux wedge?
Wondering if anyone has used the tucker sling/ar pillow/ or pedicraft reflux wedge? Were you able to get your insurance company to pay for it?? Just trying to find a way to keep my baby elevated well so she can sleep... we have tried lots of sleep positioners, towels, blankets...the list goes on and on but she always slips down in the night. :)

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
HI! I used the Tucker Sling. My friend is using it now. My insurance reimbursed for it. I thought it worked well. There is definately no sliding down to the bottom.

Vigilantmom---You r always the 1st to reply :) How did you go about having insurance reimburse you?? My insurance is a real winner (NOT)!! They have refused to pay for feeding therapy because it is not needed due to a stroke!! WOW!! Did you need your GI or Ped to give you a prescription for it so that insurance would pay?? BTW... I have talked the GI dr. into giving something other than Prevacid Solutabs to my daughter. She mentioned trying Nexium... Know anything about that?? I wish so bad that the Marci Kids website was up!!! I'm sure it's a wealth of info.

Well, my son went through 14 months of torchure and we tried everything under the sun before I found his magic bullet, so if it is out there... I tried it. : ) Its nice to help other short cut this journey a little bit. I dont want anyone to go through what we did, if I can help it.

As far as the sling and insurance goes, I called them and gave them the HCPC code of E-0621 and they said it was covered. They had his medical records could see all the problems he was having so maybe they were willing to try anything too.

As far as feeding therapy goes, contact your states Early Intervention group. They offer free speach, OT, feeding therapys as well as access to dieticians and many other services. It is not income based. Everyone has access. Just google it. The other positioner that I LOVED was the Fisher Price Soothing Motions Glider. That was a life saver more than the sling. I have had 3 people borrow it for their own refluxers. They say it is a godsend too.

Nexium... There is a mom on her that swore by nexium but I am drawing a total blank on who it is right now. It will come to me though and I will let you know. Have you called your local compounding pharmacy to ask how they are making their liquid PPIs? Some of them here are using Cocobase now which is the chocolate form of Caracream. Yes... it is finally making its way to mainstreet USA. - Karen

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
Not to change the topic but the feeding thing perked my interest......so here goes....

That line is complete and utter, well, fill in the blank. Feeding Therapy should be covered esp since she had a stroke. It should be part of her rehabilitation.

How old is your little one? You can do early intervention for free through your local school district.

It just really gets me going when an ins co won't pay for something when it should be a covered item....burns my hide to no end....

jeddsmommy... if this doesn't get you going nothing will!!! Called insurance company and they said positioners like AR Pillow, Tucker Sling etc. are "luxuries" not really "needed" so they will not pay for it. I can have my dr. submit a request anyway if I'd like!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRR!! vigilantmom...looked up fisher price glider...might give it a try...we've tried everything else!! LOL
