Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
Mamma Knows BestThis is off the Reflux topic but has everything to do with Momma knows best. On Monday night, Ryan was digging in his ear, covering it with his blanket and saying "go away ear!". I couldnt get him in to the ENT on Tuesday so I took him to the ped. He said "His ears look great. No infection. His throut looks kind of rough though so perhaps it is referred pain." He did a strep test, it was negative. We went home but it continued to bug me. I know how high his pain tollerance is. He wouldnt complain of a simple sore throat. Wednesday morning he said he had a fire in his year. I decided to insist that the ENTs office found a spot for him that day, no matter who we had to see or where we had to go. Same thing there.. the ear looked fine. I then asked the doc to pull the ear tube out and look behind it as the tube was no longer functioning and working its way out anyway. He pulled it out and sure enough, there was the infection. The poor kid had blisters on his ear drums from it being so bad.
I tell you this to remind you that YOU know your child better than anyone else. Better than your friends, family, doctor, specialist and anyone on this board. Trusts your instincts and listen to that little voice in your head. You are their voice and they are counting on you to speak on their behalf. Dont worry about sounding like you are crazy, over tired, or over stressed. You are the momma and you will always know best!
