Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
Hey chica...we're doing ok...good days and bad days. He's eating more things, but it's still a struggle to get every bite into him and he's certainly not gaining weight. We are headed for another endoscopy on the 28th to look for EE and then we will probably trial a Zegerid/Megace combo...Megace is an appetite stimulant...he's been on Periactin forever, but it seems to have no effect anymore. All in all, however, things are MUCH better than they were 6 mo or a year ago! how are you guys??

Greetings! All is where here. Ryan is down to 8 mg of Zegrid once a day. We are almost there!!!! Miralax only as needed and off the Zyrtec. The turkey is giving me and the daycare teachers a run for our money though. Total class clown and zero fear!

We are still at 29.9 pounds... Been there forever. He eats super well... for the things he loves. He just burns it faster than he can consume it. Forget the foods he doesnt like, but I guess you can say the same thing for any toddler. Textures are a big deal for him. Chokes on stuff like hotdogs, homemade meatballs and skins of the apples, but eats the heck out of apples if you peal them and loves the meatballs from Costco. My guess is he will outgrown that. The ENT brings up the discussion of taking the tonsils and adednoids every now and again but he has never had another cancer sore, sore throat or lost his voice since I switched to caracream and stopped giving him Motrin so I am not on board yet. If he continues to choak on foods when he is 4 or startes getting throat infections then I will agree.

Let me know how Zach's scope goes. Also let me know how the Zegrid works out. I have 9 packets left and I dont think we will use them all. Happy to send them your way.

Not to bump in but have you tried cycling the Periactin to see if that helps?

We have never been on it even though I have asked but I have been told you have to cycle that drug. Like 3 weeks on 1 week off.

Hey Jessica...we do cycle...we do five days on , 2 days off...and I notice an improvement on mondays when we start up...but honestly it's so miniscule now it's just barely noticeable. It really helped a lot when we first started. I even upped the dose a little and still not much change. If Z had motivation to eat I think we'd be SOOOO much farther along!!

Oh I feel ya for the motivation to eat!!! I really do!!!

It's one of those drugs I just wish they'd let us try once and see how Jedd does....KWIM? Anything to get him motivated to eat on his own.

Right now his best meal is at school, where the peer pressure is there to eat on his own, like his classmates, and within a SHORT amount of time because recess is after lunch!! LOL Stinker!!!

He will only eat dinner really well if we eat late, really late in stead of at 6:00 like normal.

At least he eats, that all I keep telling myself.

Jessica...do you know why they haven't let you trial it?? It's super cheap, it's an antihistamine and had no side effects for us at all...it just seems like it's totally worth a shot. I wish it had worked longer and harder for us.
Z does pretty well at lunch too when he's eating with his peers...not great. all he will eat is pepperoni and cheese...I'll take what I can get. Dinner is almost always Mac n cheese, spaghetti or hot dogs and he does finish IF I make sure he gets every bite...I feed him 50% of it...it's exahausting and takes forever.
but you're soooo right...they are eating!

I use distraction a lot. I think we all have something in common.. the age and they are boys... They dont have time to waste eating. I will let him color, magna doodle, watch a show or "share his bites" with Squishy the Fishy. Sigh... yes I have a fish that lives on my kitchen table. What ever works. I think they eat better at school because they are eating with their buddies, thus they are hanging out and having fun. I take advantage of car rides when I can. He cant do anything else so he just as well eat. : ) Once in a while I just dump Carnation Instant Breakfast in his milk. Sometimes everyone just needs a break. Janet, Lactiad makes a lactose free whole milk. I still have Ryan on it. I dont know if he is lactose intollerant anymore but I do know that it is easier to digest so why not. Walmart and Target has the best price on it and Walmart came out with their own brand of it. I swithed myself to the 1% Lactaid. Tastes exactly the same is I like the way I feel after drinking it.
