burping troubles
Hi~ just wondering if it is a common thing to have trouble with burps with babies with reflux? My son is SO hard to burp. It takes 20+ minutes to get all of the burps out some feedings and he won't finish eating until they are out. (He is exclusively breastfed). He also wakes suddenly from his naps screaming sometimes and won't stop until I get his burp out. It seems like he has a lot of gas inside in general, both as burps and as actual gas. Has anyone else dealt with this or is he just quirky? ;) If so, any good tips on improving the situation?

Yes, I had that problem with my kids. Sounds like the reflux is not being controlled enough, but I could be wrong. Can you put him down at an angle?

He also could be just swallowing air as he nurses. Does he latch on well, or come on and off a lot?

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
Baby gas drops help a lot. I would also consult with a lactation consultant.
