Gerber Rice Cereal
Is there anything in Gerber rice cereal that would cause issues? I think I've narrowed it down to the cereal that makes my daughter projectile vomit 2 hours after eating it...Thanks!

Yes! According to what I have read, most Gerber foods are contaminated w/milk and/or soy. I use Earth's Best or Beech Nut brands. If you haven't already, check out the info on feeding for MSPI on refluxrebels.com.

My son Levi is 13 weeks old. We figured out he has reflux @ 2 weeks. We have tried 4 different formuls (Currently Neocate) and he is taking Pepcid, Prevacid, Mylanta, Grip Water
gerber rice is not good. Gerber barley or oatmeal is fine. But i use Healthy Times brown rice. (my son had a reaction to beech nut rice cereal.)

So this MSPI, does it go away? After a couple months, a couple years, ever? She doesn't seem to be bothered by breastmilk or formula. Any info would be helpful! Thanks! I'll keep looking at that website as well.

If she isn't bothered by breastmilk or formula it would not make sense that she has MSPI - unless you are on an elimination diet with the breastmilk and using a hydrolized formula.

But it seems like you have no reason to believe she has MSPI. Maybe something else in the rice cereal is irritating her?

No, I'm not on any sort of diet, and she's not on a special formula. I've had her to the dr though because I just feel like something is wrong...she cries inconsolably quite a bit. Dr's said it wouldn't be colic anymore. They said she's just at a "stage". She's pretty much done it since 2 months old (7 months now). If it were MSPI, could breastmilk and formula just irritate her tummy, but not enough to make her vomit? We also have a GI appt Nov 8th. I'm not sure what they'll all do, but hopefully we'll figure something out!

I have read somplace that some kids are having issues with the type of DHA/ARA that they put in cereals and formulas. They said is causes vomiting. Not sure if it may help to try one with out this in it. I think Beachnut makes one without. My some has MSPI so we use Healthy Times brown rice and it has made a huge difference and he really likes it. Gerber contains milk and soy it says right on the back.

maybe try switching her to either Similac alimentum or enfamil nutragiem. I think its time for a 2nd opinion. Expecially if she has been crying like that since month 2. Yes mspi can be there with out the vomitting.... Symptoms can manifest in many ways depending on the child. Common symptoms are: Blood, water or mucous containing stools weight loss chronic congestion repeated vomiting gastroesophageal reflux (GER) asthma eczema and/or skin rashes refusing to eat or comfort eating (eating all the time to soothe the stomach) irritability or colic-like behavior Diagnosis
