Solids- are green beans OK?
Hi everyone, we started solids at 6 months. She's doing well thus far. I'm nervous about introducing certain veggies and fruits because of her reflux. My pedi didn't have any recommendations, other than the 3-4 day wait rule and try new foods in the morning. For those of you on solids- are green beans ok? My baby used to be very gassy and I keep it under control by watching what I eat (nursing). Also, since I'm here- any fruits & veggies you would recommend staying away from? Thanks

we stuck with the least allergic and least acidic foods first. i also found this blog this and other sites recommend that a pH greater then 5 is best and green beans are fine for that. If you make them and puree them yourself it is even better! (

now the baby may have some mild intolerance to them like gas, fussiness, or spit up. but they are generally a safe and well tolerated first food. oh and just a thought too, if your baby is intolerant to soy, you might want to wait on introducing peas, they are a relative to the soy plant *Good luck!

We just saw the chief of staff at Children's Hospital in charge of GI department and he told us rule for GERD babies and solids is yellow vegetables are the safest, not sure why, that's just what he told us, then pears, banana's, and apples. He warned us of green beans and carrots for awhile just b/c they are a little harder on the stomach...hope that helped.
