any ideas, please help
Hi I am new. My daughter is 2 1/2 and has a rare chromosome disorder. She has severe gerd and mild esophigitis. She takes protonix twice a day and it only seems to work sometimes. SHe will be fine for a few months and then all of a sudden she will have a few weeks of major reflux (happpening now) She wakes up screaming every hour or two at night and cannot be consoled, also every few hours in the day screaming!! She can't talk, I just know it is the reflux becaause I can hear it and smell it. SHe also seems to drool alot during the time she is having severe reflux, and I do not know if that is making the reflux worse or if the drooling is from the reflux. SO what to do, what is the next step. Any reccomendations, any other meds?? Thanks

have you tried any over the counter antacids? you could ask your dr if you could try tums or mylanta. if it doesn't seem to be working you might want to ask if you can add in a zantac (or H2 blocker) dose in addition to the protonix. have you ever tried any kind of probiotics? has she ever been tested for H.pylori?

Lorenzo b.4/25/07 1 week in NICU w/ aspirate pneumonia from a reflux episode; diagnosed GERD at 9weeks; Used Zantac for 5months. Currently using Chinese Medicine and Craniosacral Therapy. GERD, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Sensory Processing Disorder. Ask me about breastfeeding a refluxer! Pic: day 5 in the NICU.
((HUGS)) My son is 3 and he has what seem to me like random rough patches with his reflux too. It's very hard to understand sometimes whether his reflux is causing other issues or other issues are causing his reflux to flare. Is she still teething? My son is still working on his molars and it seems to be causing a pretty severe flare up.....
