opps!! Ok, so Nathan had a really high fever last month with no other symptoms, except: whinny, tired, difficulty sleeping, won't play much or eat well. His eyes look glazed also. Now again, the same thing this week with his fever lasting for 5 days ( at 103). He has a big distended tummy, and he goes from constipation for days to diarrhea for a couple of days after????

I need suggestions here....His Ped is off until Monday. What does this sound like??

Audrey Meadow 06/20/08. born 34/35 weeks. Still b/f and eats everything! ftt and chronic constipation.
hmm i would say it sounds like some kind of infection. he could have gastroenteritis or a different viral infection that could be lower in his intestines then the stomach. it could be an extreme reaction to teething although the fever is awful high but not uncommon according to our pedi. it could be a weird growth spurt, fevers are some time congruent to growing. but all in all i would say possible infection and keep him on electrolytes or fluids if he doesn't want to eat until you can talk to the Dr. or go to an urgent care or ER tomorrow if his fever doesn't go down with tylenol and he just doesn't seem right- kwim? *hugs* i hope he feels better soon.

Aurora born March 17, 2007
3 years, 8 months old
Weighs 25.8 lbs
8 lbs 11 oz at birth.
Recovered Chronic Projectile Vomiter
Prevacid Free since September 08
Egg allergy diagnosed Jan 26/09
Has a Pectus Excavatum
Has an Epipen
It also sounds like he could be obstructed, particularly if he's distended and going from constipation to diahrrea.

any fever lasting longer than 4-5 days warrants a trip to ER, if you can't get into the doctor....I wouldn't wait until Monday, but that's just me. Good luck...I hope he feels better soon(((HUGS)))
