Solids question
We have started Max on solids and moved cautiously. He is now 8 months and can eat almost anything, including Puffs and Cheerios. He still gets four (7 oz.) bottles per day and eats food (1/2 Stage 2) for breakfast and lunch. But every, single time I try and feed him some for dinner around 5:30. He is up all night screaming, so I think it is just too much for his little tummy because he then gets a bottle at 7 pm before bed. He does have DGE, so a bottle at 4 pm, then food, then another bottle at 7 pm is probably just too much and makes his reflux FLARE big time. My question is...How do you then incorporate more solids and start weaning from the bottle? I know it is not time for this yet, as he is only 8 mos. but he LOVES to eat! I guess in a few mos. I could try taking away the 4 pm bottle and offering a snack instead. Then maybe he could eat some dinner/sippy, then his bottle before bed. Just looking for suggestions, as my daughter was not a refluxer and I felt like I knew so much more of what I was doing with her (even though she was my first, go figure)! Anyone have a plan that worked for them for successful weaning to more food/less bottle?

Mom to Jasmine aka: Jazz 01/24/2007
Dx with silent reflux at 8 months
FPIES, DGE, MSPI. Recently diagnosed with EC (Eosin. colitis and now Primary immune deficiency disease.
Also mom to Nathan. born Jan.20th, 2009, MPI . so far dx with reflux and has an extremely sensitibe GI system. Also dx with primary immune deficiency disease.
We went thru this with Nathan, my 13 month old at about 7 or 8 months, still sometimes now. What we did was gave half of his usual 4:00 p/m bottle ( I would give him 3 oz) and a very small supper ( stuff that goes thru easy, puree fruit, veggies etc) and then a 7:00 bottle. The 7 bottle we reduced by 1 or 2 oz only. It took about 3 months of this and now Nate takes a moderate supper with 3 oz of milk and then 6-8 oz at bedtime. Hope this helps!!

Thanks so much b-girl! That sounds like a good plan. Not brave enough to try it yet though, lol!
