Mary - I noticed in your post you said you moved to AL. We live in MS and i'm just curious which hospital you ended up scheduling with. Ginger

Well we see a new GI at UAB but his wrap ended up being intact so for now we don't need to do another surgery. If we did though we would probably end up going to Vanderbilt or driving all the way to Houston to Texas Childrens because it would be a complicated repeat surgery and I want my child in the best hands. There isn't a hospital here in AL I would let near my child.

I hear you loud and clear! We are seeing a new GI through the Keesler Air Force base. They had a hug pediatric hospital before hurricane Katrina but itsnot built back yet, so, as of 1/1/2010, the military drs are seeing civilian patients at our local hospital. Our appointment is March 1. I'm not happy with the gi at south Alabama and lookng for someone I connect with better. My son had emergncy hernia surgery at south and we had all of our GERD testing there (upper gi, scopes, labs, ph probe, swallow study, small bowel follow through, colonoscopy, MRI, ultrasound, etc, etc). For a "childrens hospital" I was not happy with the lack of child friendly extras like a childife and toys and all he details I expected. My son had eye surgery at oschners innew Orleans. That was our first surgery/hospital experience. They were incredible. I'm thinkig that if this appontment with the military gi doesn't go well, then I'm going to try new Orleans next.
