Mommy to Georgia Kate 12/3/08
a few questions...and some ventingOK.
So Georgia is 14 months old, has had reflux since she was born, has been on zantac, prevacid solutabs and now 10 mg prilosec in the am and at right before her evening bottle.
I will say we've always been lucky in the sense she has always gained weight, never really threw up....mostly just spit up, which then has moved into silent reflux. Nowadays, I'll see her spit up/vomit in her mouth then swallow it....it doesn't seem as painful anymore....BUT....she doesn't sleep well.
I'm to the point where I don't know if she's a difficult baby and the reflux isn't that bad anymore or really it's the reflux or I've just made her needy. UGH.
You know how you go to the dr. and want to make sure you tell them everything even if maybe it's nothing....just in case it rings a bell with the dr. and they say, OH..with all those symptoms/signs it's THIS.....
Well, I think I'm just confusing myself now!
Georgia used to sleep and fall asleep by herself!!! Then when she began solids it all fell apart. She likes to fall asleep on me/near me, cuddled on me.....if not, she's miserable.....I know I comfort her, but with her not being miserable during the day, and it's usually around nap time/bed time etc. she can become inconsolable. Throwing herself around at times, arching her back....etc....90% of the time she wakes up from naps and in the morning SCREAMING. a few times a week she wakes up in the middle of the night SCREAMING......sometimes she's eat or drink, sometimes just screams.....I really haven't seen much of a pattern.....UGH. HELP SOMEONE......
Her GI wants me to see if anything changes in the next few weeks, she wants me to give her whole milk again, initially it made her miserable with gas etc.....she's been on 2% lactaid, because that is what we have in the house....it scares me....she was SO unhappy before. She also says that if the fussiness doesn't get better she wants to scope her and do some 24 hr ph probe thing....
Any advise/stories would GREATLY HELP ME.

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
|well, Z was defeinitely lactose intolerant as an infant, but by about a year and a half he had grown out of it. He's on Pediasure now and can handle it. So, milk is worth a try...you'll know pretty quickly if she's still MSPI. The 24 hr probe is a pain, but can be very useful. They place a probe down your childs nose to just above the stomach (LES) and it measures how many times a child refluxes and how acidic it is. I thought it was going to be a nightmare, but actually Zacky never minded the thing (he certainly minded placement and removal, but it was quick)...the little monitor was in a pouch around his neck and he never messed with it! It gave us very valuable information. Good luck!|

Same dilemmaI turned to the internet today in an effort to get some perspective on my daughter's issues. Your post is exactly what I am going through. Although Phoebe is only 10 months old, we have been having this same problem. It is crazy! And totally confusing! She has always been a "high needs" baby, with colic and reflux, etc. We have been hoping the reflux was gone (took her off zantac) but now I am not so sure. It gets so difficult when you have a tough baby. I don't know about you - but I question every decision I make. And that's because nothing ever seems to be consistent! Do you work full time? I do and I feel like that makes it even harder because I don't have control over her daily schedule. They do grow out of this, right?? Thanks for your posting... out of everything I read this morning (after a night of no sleep) on the internet - it really helped me :)
