nutramigen?
hi everyone!! I haven't been around in a few years. Our little boy Joseph finally outgrew his GERD this summer, just in time for our youngest to start solids and follow his same path. Lilybelle is a mess with it but we are a little better prepared for reflux this time because of surving Joseph's. She has an Upper GI, ph probe, and a Pharangeal function study scheduled in the next few weeks.

She is in the process of self-weaning :(... I am interested in trying nutramigen because everything else we are trying seems to be making it worse. We have been giving her Pediasure to help her gain wieght, she loves it but seems to really spit it back up. (shes only 14 lbs at 11 mos) Any feedback?? What else have you all used that works?

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
I only have a second, getting ready to make dinner.

She may be spitting it back up because of how dense the formula is. It is a 30 cal. per ounce formula. This can be harder for their bodies to digest fast enough.

Jedd struggle with Pediasure horribly and he moved from 27 cal infant (per DRs orders) to the 30 cal stuff.

Nutramigen tastes horrid, so, getting her to take it orally at this late in age will be hard. you can mix flavors into it to make it better though, but it still won't be a guarantee she'll take it.

Jedd ended up on Peptamen Jr and actually ended up taking it orally after TONS of feeding/occupational therapy. The therapy was for feeding tube dependacy from almost birth though, not from taste. It doesn't taste too bad and it's also a 30 cal formula. It is completely broken down, so this would be a logical step for a toddler to go to after being on Alimentum, which is what we did.

Hi! Sorry that you are going through all of this again. My son started nutramigen at around 9mos. He took to it finally after having tried the neocate. We switched him over to gentlease and he didn't have a problem with that at around 10 or 11 months. He was suspected to have MSPI as well. He's on the enfagrow which is supposed to be geared towards toddlers. I hope you find the right formula. It was a lot of trial and error for us since Kody was bf until like 8mos. Good luck!
