how soon should prevacid adjustment work?
Hi, Baby just went from 2ml of prevacid compound twice a day to 15mg solutab twice a day, and I am now on a dairy and soy free diet. I can't see any improvement at all, he still wakes up every 1 -2 hrs at night and it has already been 5 days, is it too soon to tell? He is 6 mths and I am supposed to reintroduce solids but i am too scared... had terrible pain and colic when I first did at 5 mths by drs suggestion. She says I have to do it anyway but I was hoping to first see some improvement with his sleep.

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
It typically takes 14 days. You likely know this already but be sure to give it on an empty stomach and feed 30 minutes later. There is no need to hurry on solids. Make sure she is feel good and happy, then try it. Dont risk a food adversion. Slow and steady she goes with refluxers. Listen to your instincts.

Another kid with REFLUX! Upper GI on Monday. PH Probe and Modified GI in a few weeks. Currently takes 7.5mg Prevacid once daily.
it took both our kids a full 2 weeks for the prevacid to have full effect. take your time on the solids, they get everything they nutritionally need from the breastmilk. good luck!

Did you know that the solutab has dairy in it? My son was MSPI and never did well on it, he does well on Prilosec now, they make prilosec in an oral suspension liquid also. If he'd already been on the Prevacid for awhile and was just increased, I would think you would see some improvement, unless the increase is making him worse because of the dairy. Personally I would ask for Prilose
