Has anyone used Colic Calm
Me again...by the way, thank you all that have responded to my previous posts. I tried to respond/comment but it made me create a new post/topic. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Anyway, if you can't tell the past few weeks have been rough. She's either getting worse or she's learned to manifest her symptoms differently. She's just over two months now. In my desperate search for relief I came across a website for Colic Calm. It's a type of gripe water that helps with gas and apparently with reflux as well. Has anyone ever tried this or heard of it? Thank you all for helping me get through these difficult times. I was feeling all alone. RBC

i have been on this board for about 2 years and in that time i have heard that it works for many and for others it doesn't work at all. For us personally, we have tried gripe water recently (not colic calm) and it did not work. i have heard for the pukers though it comes up black and stains very bad. good luck and i hope it works for you!

Colic Calm
I'd like to hear any feedback on Colic Calm, as well. We tried it several months ago and it does seem to work, but VERY short lived. It definitely calmed Max down, but wore off a few hours later. Also, it is a horrible black color and stains everything, since he is drooling like crazy it gets all over everything. Any Gripe Water is just symptom related so it just treats the symptoms on an as needed basis. I don't really think it is preventative, which would be ideal. Anyone else have success with Colic Calm? How often did you give it and before or after feedings? There are rave reviews on their website for treating reflux which is interesting. Even claims people have taken their kiddos off of their meds it is helping so much. Hmmmm......sounds too good to be true!

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
I used Colic Calm with Ryan. I had lots of hope pinned on it... no luck. Plus the black color was kind of disturbing to me. There is something not real comforting about seeing your childs mouth and drool black. I know it was just the charcol but it bothered me anyway. It was darn near impossible to get out of his cloths too and anything else it spilled on. That said, people who have used it for true colicy babies (not reflux babies) swear by it.

To be honest the only thing that turned things around for us was getting Ryan on a really high dose of Prevacid and mixing it with Caracream from the Reflux Solutions Lab. Prior to that we were in an out of the ER for IV fluids because of his drinking strikes and we pretty much lived in the Pediatricians office. RBC, can you remind me what meds your daugher is on?

Colic Calm
Colic Calm, and all the other gripe waters, did nothing for us. The good thing about colic calm is they will refund your money. The bad thing is it can stain. Ellie ~

My little girl is on prevacid, 15mg/ day. She two months. We tried Zantac when the pedi first diagnosed us but it didn't do anything. She does have horrible gas and I give her simethicone (little tummy gas drops) but that also provides short relief. Gripe water does nothing now. Doesn't even relieve her hiccups.

As far as the Prevacid goes, is it the solutabs or are you getting it compounded. Are you giving it all at once or half in the morning and half at night. Are you giving it on an empty stomach are feeding 30 minutes later? Is she contipated at all? I am so sorry you are going through all of this. I have been where you are. It was torcher trying to find the magical answer. Hopefully we can get you closer to that. Let me know about the questions above.

Two products that helped with the gas pains for Ryan was BioGaia Probiotic drops (http://www.biogaia.com/Page/Standard/79/BioGaia-Probiotic-drops.aspx) and Happi Tummi Colic Relief Waistband. (http://www.mom4life.com/catalog.php?item=327) It was crazy to see him relax once I got the waist band on him. He could pass gas a lot easier.

I also wore him in a front sling by Baby Bjorn for almost 3 months. When my legs couldnt take it anymore I sat on an excersise ball and bounced with him... still in the sling. I must have walked and bounced for miles. I have a photo of me wearing him in the sling with a napkin over his head while I was eating a burger and corn on the cob : ) I can smile about it now... not so much then.

If you need someone to talk to, please feel free to call me. Again, I know how you feel. Been there and it about took me to my knees. Email me at karenkuhn@msn.com and I will send you my phone number if you would like.
