Mother of a reflux baby
Sleeping arangments/advise
I was looking for advise on sleeping for my 4 month old. She currently sleeps in her car seat because that was the only place she was comfortable for so long. Now that shes getting older she seems to want to stretch out more. I know laying flat is not an option for her. We have elevated her bed and used the tucker sling, but she seems to wake up a lot when we use that method. I also tried a nap nappy, which she hated. I thought about buying a wedge, but they look so big and I'm afraid she's not going to like it (like the nap nanny). Any sugestions from any experienced parents of refluxers?

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
I swear by the Fisher Price Soothing Motions Glider. Would not have survived without it. You can probably find one on Craigs List. http://www.babyage.com/products/j1314_fisher-price_fisher_price_gentle_motion_glider_seat.htm?cp=affiliate&utm_source=GAN&utm_medium=default&utm_campaign=Primary

I wish I had a wonderful suggestion, but I have had Georgia in bed with me since she was 4 months old. Between 4-6 months her reflux got worse and would wake up choking/coughing/screaming at night. I still prop her up on a pillow next to me or in my arms. She too slept in either her infant seat or bouncer....then she was ok on her side, or on a small wedge. But the addition of solids etc. made her reflux worse at night. I wish you all the luck and hope you find something that works.

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
We swore by that swing, too...it rocked and saved us MANY a night. In his crib we purchased a foam wedge for 10 dollars and it's still in there @ 2 yrs old. Here is what I have... http://www.amazon.com/Safe-Lift-Deluxe-Universal-Wedge/dp/B00067AUP2 you put it under the sheet...he didn't start sliding off of it til probably 9 mo or so...

Thanks for all your wonderful advise. I will have to look into getting the wedge. I have tried two differant types of swings (they both swayed differant ways). she didn't like either of them on and didn't even like to sit in them without screaming (which was wierd, becuase I would of thought they were similar to the carseat, which she loves).

so sorry you are having a tough time! at 19 months our daughter adeline is still having issues sleeping. the tuckers wedge worked wonders for us! we bought that right after she came home from the hospital. first we velcroed her in the danny's sling on the wedge with the boppy in a u under her fanny. months later we got rid of the dannys sling. she slept this way until well after a year. kept having to pick her up and reposition her because she got uncomfortable. eventually she wanted out of the boppy under her bottom, too confining. we did a few weeks in the crib without anything but a few towels under one end of the mattress. was having to lift her out of the crib 6 -7 times a night because she was in pain. still does not sleep through the night. we never did the carseat. she would sit in a swing, but NEVER like it moving. she has been in the bed with us propped up on pillow for months. i ordered the nap nanny awhile ago. works some during the day after she falls asleep on my shoulder. i place her in it on the floor. never really worked in the crib or bed, but she loves to prop up on it and watch baby einstein videos. she is 21 pounds at 19 months. really little.
