new member.. suggestions to get out so don't lose my mind
Hi all, I was hoping to find local support groups in my area where moms/dads/caregivers who has child(ren) with reflux could get together. We are told at this point that my daughter's behavior is normal and many others are going through this. It's frustrating with the meds, different formulas, etc that while she is sometimes content I still have a fussy baby who often has meltdowns. Its hard to get out when this happens because its SO unpredictable however I can't stay in or will go bonkers. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
this is a great forum...tell us where you are from. There is also kidshealthsupport.com which I use a lot...ladies in both forums are AWESOME! P.S. I'm in Los ANgeles

Yes, I have been reading many of the posts today and everyone seems to be an excellent resource and great support. Like many others we don't seem to be quite there however our doctors are saying this is just how she will be and time is the best healer. Easier said than done when you watch your baby look some uncomfortable and unhappy. I am in Boston and while online is fantastic it would be great to meet up with other parents/caregivers who are struggling with many of the same challenges. We are trying other meetup groups however I feel like no one else has a child going through this. It makes me wonder if some stay in and if a group formed we could all commiserate and socialize in a setting together :)

Want to cry all the time
Hi, my son is 6 weeks old and I am so upset because I never see him happy. When is awake he cries (unless he is feeding). I am breast feeding and lots of people want me to switch to formula because he would constantly feed and they think it would be for the best! I do not want to give up breast feeding. He sleeps for about 20 mins in the day in short 5 mn cat naps but fortunately does sleep for 4-5 hours at night. I have been to AandE twice about the pain he is in and all they can suggest is calpol and they say I just have to deal with it. I have to listen to crying over 8 hours a day. I am at home with my 4 year old too and it is getting so upsetting. I find getting myself something to eat a massive ordeal and then I have no appetite when I have to eat it whilst listening to a screaming baby. It really is relentless and no one seems to be able to help. I don't have access to much support when my husband is at work and I am on my knees now, dreading every day when I wake up. He has been seen by the consultant for gastro disorders and is on omeprazole and domperidone. He has been on them for 4 days but I have seen no difference in him. How long do these meds take to work?

Just wanted to say that I'm going through the same thing and literally feel sick to my stomach getting up in the morning. Sadie cries or needs consoling almost all of her waking hours. My heart is broken from seeing her in so much pain. Our GI specialist says that the relux will get worse from 5 to 7 months and last about year. I can't imagine seeing my little girl in pain for that long. She's almost three months now. Is there a section of this site where people can post information about when their child's reflux got better?
