Jordyn 11/30/04 DX GERD at 1month old
Sorry it has taken so long to get back here. We are doing cyber charter school and I am trying to keep up with that thru he tears naps and Dr visits.......................................................I mentioned to the DR that even when she was vomiting 12 hours after her last meal it looked and amazingly (this is bad) smelled just like it did when it went in. The only responce I got to that was that she isnt chewing her food well enough. With a child who refused to eat at all for so long we were allways just happy that she was eating at all. I have noticed even since the vomiting has stopped she is very crabby durring the day and I am still hearing her cry at night she isnt allways waking but some times she does and will say her bellie hurts. A few times she has said she thinks she has to go to the bathroom but other times just says it hurts. At this point I am lucky to get one good meal a day out of her and even the old go to fasvorites are not working. I have even started asking her what she wants for meals just to get her to eat but at the same time I cant blame her if it hurts. I think the times when she does eat its more a comfort eating because its almost like a constant graze instead of a meal...... Please dont feel bad about the vomit queen I feel the same way about "poop" people often laugh at my description of my daughters bowel movements but that is part of how I track her health. She started wiping on her own lately and it has me thrown off since its harder to know if she has gone unlessd she forgets to flush which happens sometimes..................... I just wonder if even though she can articulate at this age if the crying is still a pain thing or if its from the lack of sleep and no one believes me that she cries as much now as she did as an infant. Even tho she is older it still wears on me as a parent. Daddy gets frustrated when he is home for 15 minutes but I am here all day. I wouldn't have it any other way but that dosent make it any easier. You are all the strongest women I know. I know people who couldn't handle a quarter of what some of you have been thru. Heres to all of you. And to our kiddos for being little troopers.

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site:

A good GI will be willing to work WITH you as a team on your child's issues. If you don't feel you are getting that, then can you switch to another one.

We have a really really good working relationship with Jedd's GI. I ask him questions and he asks my opinion. It's a win win, we are very fortunate and grateful for that relationship though. We paid our dues with a horrible GI that allowed Jedd to suffer with an NG tube in and refused to do the referral fora G and would up meds at all. It was awful. The straw that broke the back was when he told me reflux was "just a laundry issue" after I showed him a BEACH towel soaked in vomit from the trip to the office right before seeing him.

As far as eating, any child won't eat successfully until all medical issues are resolved. Try your best to get her to eat and work on the medical front as you do. Just try to maintain weight as good as you can, which can be hard.

Puking up food 12 hours after eating is NOT normal. Sorry to disagree with your GI. Can you call the office tomorrow and request a Gastric Emptying Scan??? That would be a good start. I mean, it's a simple test and is a good jumping off point to determine if more testing is needed.

Also, has pooping always been an issue are is this a new development? When the GI tract backs up (constipation) it can cause reflux to flare and of course pain, as you are seeing. Can you give something for the constipation and see if you can get some relief there as well??

And yes, you are much MUCH stronger that you ever thought you could be. I think Mothers, all Mothers are the strongest creatures God ever put on this earth. And our kids, infants, toddlers are as equally as strong.

Check with your
doctor first!
