To:Lovemypies regarding JacobHow is he doing? I hope you don't mind, but I read your post from September and wanted to add a reply but wasn't sure you'd go back to read it. I went through a similar experience with my youngest son. Personally I would keep breastfeeding and remove milk and soy as they said, but also make sure you are not eating reflux triggers like ketchup, tomato sauce, citrus, chocolate, and NO spices except salt and pepper. This of course is hard. I made it to 16mths nursing my youngest. I finally weaned him because the doctors convinced me to. Turns out when he finally got put on a PPI(prilosec) the reflux finally got better, though he still needs a bland diet and can't have soy. The GI always insisted the zantac was enough, but it never was. I would insist on trying a PPI and maybe try a new GI. I would think they would try a PPI before doing more tests. You can thicken liquids all you want, but if he has bad reflux, it's not going to help enough without the right meds. Please feel free to e-mail me anytime to talk. This must be very hard on you and your family. firstname.lastname@example.org
