Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. I would if I could get my hands on it. Impossible to get it around here. People line up for hours and they run out after 2 hours of starting the clinics. Next year it will be part of the seasonal flu shot... My 5 yr old just got over the upper respitory crude (maybe H1n1) that is going around. It knocked her on her butt for over a week. Barely ate a morsal of food that entire time and this is a kid that can eat more than me most days and is never ever sick. Luckily she drank really well. I am dog tired from constantly bleaching down the place and keeping the kids on seperate floors of the house. Starting to wonder if I should have just let Ryan use her nose as a pacifier and got it over with. It is inevitable that he is going to get it... He is a daycare kid after all. Him getting that scares me more than getting him vaccinated for it.

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
We decided to trust our Ped who we LOVE on this one. She was VERY adamit that Jedd get a vac for both as get them asap.

Jedd got his seasonal flu shot on Friday and got the first part of the H1N1 flu mist on Sunday. He will need a booster to the H1N1 I'm pretty sure.

Our 3 year visit to the Ped was timed just right. Jedd got in on day 1 of their 3 days of H1N1 mist clinic they did. They booked up and had none left.

JMHO but if you can get your hands on the vac, get it.

Mary & Nicholas 7-17-03 (non-refluxer)allergies, asthma on Singulair and Flovent & Aidan 1-28-07(my refluxer)Nissen Fundoplication on June 20, 2008, FTT, MSPI, DGE, ear tubes, allergies and severe GERD now currently taking just Prevacid and drinking Elecare Vanilla 1+.
We got both shots the regular and h1n1. For us it was a no brainer as we all have asthma. And yes Jess you need a booster for the H1N1 vaccine 28 days after the first dose. We got the actual shot not the mist because you can't get the mist if you have asthma or a compromised immune system which my oldest has.

Ava 5/3/05 asthma, food allergies

All three of mine got it... two of them have asthma so they are high risk for developing flu complications. Their DR's also felt it was a no-brainer for them too. They didn't have any side effects from the vaccine but they are saying you need two H1N1 shots if you are under the age of 9 in order to get full protection.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
jgbennet--I've wondered about that. I mean several months ago we never heard of "swine flu" then wham bam they make a vaccine. I believe sometime we have to trust scientists, but part of me cringes a little that they pumped this out so fast. There was no time to test any side effects or anything.

I work in childcare and have had several kids around me with h1n1, but only one in my class. So far I haven't gotten it. I am having a really tough time deciding whether to get it or not.

People talk about the mist being the live virus but then one person said as soon as it hits your body temp. it dies. If that's the case, why did they make it live to start with?

I'm just so confused.

It takes over 6 months to make the vaccine.. very primative in the way it is made. Next year it will be part of the regular flu shot but they couldnt get it produced fast enought as it takes longer to culture and grow than that regular influenza A.. Some info on how it is made... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33420826/ns/health-cold_and_flu/ns/health-cold_and_flu/
