Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
Normal 3 month behavior. She is using her senses and those fingers are yummy!! And yeap.. she could be on front end of teething too.

Debbie, Mom to:
Derek,10/29/02 GERD,Can't have any legumes(soy, being the worse), allergic to PN/Tree Nuts, struggled to gain weight for years, my "picky" eater,Takes Zegerid. Johnny, 12/05/99 GERD, managed by diet, allergic to cashews/pistachios.
My 6yr old is chewing on his fingers now because his front teeth are about to come out. He also did chew on his fingers when his reflux was bad when he was a baby. I don't think it could be a side effect from Prevacid. Is she sleepin OK? Maybe it is just teething? If not, is she on enough Prevacid?

I don't know, but mine is a drooler too. I have been wondering about teething, but she is only about 2 1/2 mo now so is probably too early for that to be our answer....

my son is 4 months old and he started the behavior you describe at about 3 months. i think it's just natural oral development. soon she will start putting objects in her mouth, as well, if she doesn't already.

that said, my son was on prevacid for a few weeks and i noticed that his appetite seemed to decrease. he has been off prevacid for over a week now--now on zantac--and his appetite seems to be better. his reflux--or whatever it is, never been officially diagnosed--has not improved on zantac, but he is eating more.

I've read that reflux does cause excessive drooling, and my 3-month-old is starting to drool. But I suppose it could be teething. I've also read that the drooling can start well before there's any visible sign of the teeth coming out because they're deep in the gums and starting to grow. Your guess is as good as mine--mine's doing the same thing.
