Payton and Reflux and Asthma
Thanks to jeddsmommy and johniesnewmommy and jordana for offering your thoughts about Payton's aspiration pneumonia. Her sallow test on Tuesday came back normal, thank goodness. Payton is improving each day now on antibiotic and oral steriods...the prednazone is making her cranky, but a lot the weezing has eased up. Hubby took her to the ped yesterday & the doc now says we have a "budding asthmatic"(I have asthma, which he says makes it more likely for her to have it, too). He gave us a month samples of pulmicort to try. I think one of y'all have a child on pulmicort & on reflux meds? Have you had success with this? I'm still wondering how I tell the difference between asthma causing the pneumonia or reflux getting formula back up into her lungs.

Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
we have been on reflux meds and pulmicort and albuterol for ages...we have weaned off all three...but we did them together for a long time. I keep the pulmicort aroudn though because if Z gets a cold he'l need it...the reflux seems to make any respiratory stuff so much worse!

We have the reflux asthma combo at our house. My daughter is on zyrtec, flovent and albuterol for asthma/allergies. They add singulair when it gets really bad. She also takes prevacid and miralax to deal with the reflux/constipation issue. Anyway, we have had wonderful success with these meds. Like night and day!! The coughing from the asthma seemed to aggravate her reflux so they both had to be controlled to get good results. kwim?
