Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
Meat??? Smoke???
Z has barely puked all month..the last two days have been brutal. There are two factors that I'm thinking might be affecting him...opinions, please. I introduced a meat meal on both days...he's never had meat before...both days he was fine all morning...ate the meat at lunch and proceeded to puke the rest of the day. Secondly...we live direclty under the big fire here in Cali...the smoke is unbearable...we are running air purifiers and a/c all day long, but it's still bad...daycare is keeping them indoors... Smoke? Meat?? thoughts??

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
Both could be culprits, though I'd vote for smoke. Inhalation causes a lot of nausea.

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. I vote smoke too. You could try a dose of Zytec or Claritin, both of which are very very safe, just to see what happens.

Thanks guys...I'll try Zyrtec...he's taken it before...it certainly can't hurt. Let's hope today is better.

well, he did no meat yesterday and only threw up one time...he drank a bunch of water out of the dog bowl (oops!)...so no big deal...and he ate well yesterday. So I was leaning toward meat being the culprit. Then this morning he drank a few ounces and puked...and it was really mucousy...so I'm thinking smoke is the culprit... My final analysis is that it's both...and I'm chalking it up to a stinky week. Phhhh. I hate hate hate sending my kid to daycare on an empty tummy. I hope he doesn't puke there today!!!

These crazy kids always keep up guessing dont they? I hope he did well for you at school and the barfing stays at bay. The pollen count has been really high here. Ryan and I have both been mucousy and gaggy. He is hanging in there though. God bless Claritin!! I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend. I vote that you skip out of town away from the smoke. BTW.. what kind of meat was Z eating? Ryan stuggled with deli ham... sounds crazy but true. I switch to an all natural brand, nitrate free in a brown box.. cant think of the name... problem solved. He loves it when I spread strawberry cream cheese on it, roll it up and slice it for him. Kind of like tortilla roll ups. Eats it up. Dont ask how I came up with that crazy combo. Try it sometime. Z might like it.
