wanted bed wedge or reflux bed in Atlanta
I am looking to loan or purchase a reflux bed or wedge and wanted some tips. I haven't posted in quite some time. Meggy is 27 months now and still just 20 pounds. I think this weight suits her body size and type. However, we are still dealing with severe pain issues. We had finally gotten where we could prop her on a few pillows and everyone got some rest. Now, we are back to sitting up to hold her during the night so that she can sleep. She can't sleep lying down at all. Her voice is almost all the way gone. Meggy has been hoarse for about 3 weeks now. We had been giving her medical food for a long time until the company decided to stop making the only one that didn't have corn without telling anyone first. Now, we are back to screaming several hours a day and up most of the night. Does anyone know of a formula that is free of corn, dairy, soy? The one we have been using is mostly rice based. Meggy is almost purely on raw veggies, some fruit, and liquid nutrition. All elemental formulas seem to contain corn and make matters worse. Thanks again everyone for listening.

Wow, and I thought I had it bad. I spend a lot of time at the health food store searching for things that johnnie can eat. He finally got put on the neocate junior and he is starting to gain some weight, but that has corn syrup in it. I couldn't afford the reflux mattress so I bought a temperpedic mattress pad (well i had it before) and cut it up in pieces to make what looked like the shape of the reflux mattress. I used pool noodles to conform the sides. His physical therapist also said that there are stores that sell BIG pieces of solid foam that can be cut to any shape. She had to do that for her nephew and she said that the foam was about $60.00 versus $700 for the mattress. I cant get mine to drink the rice milk, but I keep trying and they also have a rice dream ice cream that with a little coaxing he is starting to take a little. Most baby swings will hold up to 25lbs. I know we have used ours so much it had to be replaced. I loved the rainforest one because it just plugs into the outlet, but Johnnie especially at night, liked the aquarium one that had lights he could look at.

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
I wanted to really look before I responded, Engi. I can't find a single one besides Alimentum that has no corn. And I know that's been off the list for a while. As for a bed/wedge, could you get her one of these foam flipping things? I can't recall what they're named, but they're a chair when folded, and a bed unfolded. I think it may be easy enough to keep her propped in one of those. Poor kid. I'll keep looking around for you, but you may end up having to make her liquid nutrition totally from scratch. ;-( HUGS!

Thank you for all your responses. I think I will be looking into the upholstery idea first. I hope that I can find someone local that can and will help to make it for a reasonable price. I had never thought about that possibility of this before. The reflux bed looks great and magical but more than I had thought to spend at the moment. Although I will certainly consider and talk over with hubby.

My son used it from 4 months to 2 years and it was a great thing for us. It allowed us to put him down in a bed instead of having to prop him up with various pillows.
