Called GI on 7/28 and still waiting callback
Hi everyone, Can you believe I called and updated the GI on the 28th and still am waiting a call back? Aggh. I am beyond frustrated. I waited the two to three days for a response, sent an email update last Friday, got an auto response that I would get a response in two days, didn't and so called yesterday,, only to FINALLY get a call back with a message finally. Know what the message said? that she'd tried to call me several times, and either got a busy or wouldn't leave a voicemail because there was no name. It's my cell, I have call waiting and the call number always shows up for a missed call, and this is the first Dr. office I have heard of that want's to waste it's time continually trying to get a person on the other end, just leave a message, a bit more specific than who you are and your number....maybe like what I am supposed to do next? Agh.

Frustration is taking it's toll, I bet you all can tell. So we still have a refluxing kid on EES for well over three weeks and no idea of what to do next.. I sent another email to let them know that email is fine if that would be more convenient for them and hope against hope that they will use it. I didn't have this problem with them before, they always called around 6, I answered and we spoke. This is simply crazy....

Now here it is, school will be starting soon and I had hopes of gettting whatever was next scheduled before school, but I guess not to be...

Sorry for the vent, but I have never heard of it being so much trouble to leave a message to a pt. before, all of out other drs. have no problem whatsoever with leaving a message without our names on the message......Hm. If you got thhis far, thanks! Ever heard of a doc using email? Hope so!!

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
I would call every.single.hour....LOL they will get the hint.

Waiting that long for a call back is not acceptable even for a very busy practice. Jedd's practice is HUGE, they are the only ped GI practice within about 3 hours of us, so really really busy. We get calls back within 24 hours. At least the nurse will call back on MANY many occasions THE GI calls me back AFTER hours.

Thanks Jeddsmommy, And did I forget to mention my major faux paus yesterday... I had called with the same update yesterday, left the same message and apparently had forgotten to turn off my phone. So apparently the secretary heard me telling my tale of woe to a friend on the message, on which I had inadvertantly called the secretary a twit. This had to have been at least ten minutes AFTER I had thought I ended the call...OOPS...I did get a call back to tell me she didn't appreciate being called a twit, but no further info....That was never meant to be heard by anyone than my friend, and we know how we can talk with our friends and when frustration over waiting nearly two weeks for a call back, well I guess I am glad twit was the strongest word I used. And to make it worse I couldn't figure out how she had heard my comment. Mortified and embarrassed and with o further answers....Well maybe that gave you a laugh? So I am hesitant to be too much more pushy, but really I think a professional person would have let that go, knowing that was a phone operational error?

It's terrible, isn't it? The waiting, and waiting. I have carried my cell phone diligently since I called them last tuesday, getting up from a movie with the kids thinking it was them and it wasn't, waiting and waiting...How did the results go? I am still even waiting for any test to be ordered, or else to be notified!

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
Are you in the same city as your GI? If so can you get someone to babysitt for you so you can go there and park yourself in their waiting room until they make the time to talk to you??

But she really did deserve to be called a twit right??? LOL :-) She's lucky, I probably would have let loose with something worse, and then I would have regretted it later. But in all reality, she's just the nurse, if the GI wants her to call and it's HER that's not getting back to you, he needs to know. I'd still call a few times a day. It is just not right at all to wait that long.

Thanks everyone, I don't feel like I am being unreasonable...Their office is in another state three and a half to four hours away so as much as I wish I could just go and park it there, that just isn't too feasible. Although you know what I guess I will just have to start calling every day, be as pleasant as I can and wait. It sucks because the dr. must have given the nurse instructions as to what I to do next, but I can't do it, because I don't know what they are.,

And really, if you are going to waste time to leave me a message telling me you've called before and have not left messages because my name isn't on the greeting, don't you think you might as well go ahead and tell me a little more than you've called? Making a recipe for frustration is what she is doing. So I will start calling every day on Monday, I guess at the time they open. Agh. Thank you everyone for your support! I will let you all know if I ever find out what is to be next....
