wow i didn't mean to post that. anyway i was reading a little and saw that Jedd has his feeding tube out!!!

THAT'S FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!

WAY TO GO JEDD!!! I hope things continue to go well with him without it! how long does it take to heal up the hole? Quinn is going on... umm... 2 years with hers in i do believe.

i dunno why she doesn't grow without it. :( we go in to see the GI doctor and maybe we can talk about weaning again. anyway. congratulations! -Sarah

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
Sarah, I have a little fella in my class that will be 4 next month. He still has his. He is a tiny thing. He hasn't used it for a little while but his mom said he's not gaining without it so...

I just thought I'd let you know that Q isn't alone. Hugs!

Jessica, Mommy to Jedd, severe reflux, severe food and oral aversions, Finally G tube free!!! VSD repair 4-24-07 (open heart surgery), hypospadias, repaired 3 times and Ear tubes Visit Jedd at his CB site: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jedd
thanks, he has gained on oral feeds for a YEAR before we even considered pulling it out. We were planning on going another winter with it but a couple of months ago he had a sinus infection and rotovirus (again on both things) and stayed oral and didn't need IV fluids. So that right there convince the GI and us that we were ready.

Your day will come. You have to get all the medical issues resolved first, for some kids, it takes longer. Enjoy it though, with it Quinn thrives much better than she would without it. ((HUGS))

Duh, forgot to answer you ?? LOL

Overnight the first night we put gauze on it. The next morning, there was a tiny amount of fluid on the gauze. I kept it covered the next day, but there was NOTHING coming out of the stoma at all, period!!! LOL He closes fast though, we knew he would because he's yanked it out at nap before and within 45 mins closed up half way and we made an ER trip to put in a foley until we could get to the surgeon's office to shove, literally, a new one in with her help.

I quite literally took him swimming in a chlorinated pool about 36 hours after pulling it, and he did not leak at all, still. Now it looks like he has two belly buttons. If you look on P2P my siggy has his belly shot. :-)

Check with your
doctor first!
