Zack born 09/28/07 @ 31 weeks. Dx silent reflux @ 6 mo. Now not so silent. Switched to Elecare @ 9 mo. On Prevacid 15mg 1x daily. Looking to stop the puke and gain some lbs.
Puke stopped about 24 months and he's learning to eat...very slowly.
Still on prevacid and periactin.
Z's PH Probe
It was placed on Thurs morning...placement was rough...puked up 3 hour old formula (motility problem? like I needed the gastric emptying study? lol)...the nurse was good and got it in quick. Z threw up a couple more times after that, but I'm assuming his throat was irritated...he actually did well all day not messing with it...I had to cover the buttons on the probe as those looked fun to push, but he did OK. That night we slept in the living room on dog beds and blankets...I woke up at one to find the probe wrapped around his neck twice...I didn't sleep any more that night.
Probe removal on Friday was quick...he screamed but was totally fine after that.
I'll let y'all know when we get results!

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
Uhg! I bet you are so glad that was over. I was just hunting down an old email from you so send you a note but I saw this pop up. Have you thought about mixing Z's prevacid with Caracream or swithing to Zegerid? I have to say that no longer having to time meds around food is awesome. More money of course but I am glad I made the switch. It is really nice to not play the waiting game anymore. I give it to him at 7 am and 6 pm no matter what he has or hasnt had to eat. Is he on Miralax or anything like that? Ryan has been on Mylanta Cherry Supreme (just mag and cal) for about a week and a half now. He is finally pooping like a normal kid which has made the food move through his system so much faster. He actually has an appetite now. It is strange to see that of him. Of course I may have just jinxed myself...
