Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Can this day get any worse
So last night, Ryan went really horse and lost his voice by the end of the night. I knew immediately we were in for it today. He only took 10 oz of fluid yesterday and refused the dream feed. This morning was horrid. Wouldnt take anything at all. On the way to the ER to get fluids for him, I received a text that my friend who is 36 died this morning... Stage 4 esophogeal cancer that he gone to his liver. Left 3 little girls behind. While Ryan was gettting his IV I got another text that another dear friend had just died of lunch cancer. Unbelievable. Uhg!!!!! Is life ever going to be normal again. I am totally exhausted and my heart arrhythmias are totally out of control. I havent had issues with them in years. When are these stupid molars going to come through... if that is the culprit anyway......

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. I have had those days feeling like the bad times will never end. One thing after another goes wrong or something happens. I hope Ryans teeth come in soon. You're such a great mommy. Take care of yourself too. It's so hard to forget to take of yourself when such turmoil is going on. I always know when I'm at my breaking point and sometimes I just take a hot bath. It helps too a little as long as I don't think about anything. Hang in there! Just too shall pass.

Lorenzo b.4/25/07 1 week in NICU w/ aspirate pneumonia from a reflux episode; diagnosed GERD at 9weeks; Used Zantac for 5months. Currently using Chinese Medicine and Craniosacral Therapy. GERD, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Sensory Processing Disorder. Ask me about breastfeeding a refluxer! Pic: day 5 in the NICU.
((HUGS)) The upside of the bottom is the certainty of change (which is also the downside of the top). I'm so sorry for your losses and for the stress you are feeling and the suffering Ryan is enduring. May the inevitable upward changes come your way soon....

I am Jacky, mommy to Joslyn Olivia (April 2008) and Katelyn Isabel (November 2009).
Joslyn was dx'ed with Silent Reflux with breath apnea at 5 days old. VERY SCARY!
Katelyn is a spitter reflux baby. Started at 3 days old as well. (Both were/are breast fed.. symptoms came on when my milk came in).
Joslyn has been reflux free since she was 12 months (suffered poor weight gain for a few months) and Katelyn is now on Zantac... waiting to see if it works.
many hugs to you.... I am so sorry you are having such tragic losses and stress!

hugs to you!!!!!!

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
I am so sorry to hear of your tragic losses. I will pray that things turn around for you soon.

The Lord's newest gardian angel must have had a talk with Ryan. One hour before I was going to take him back in for more fluids he decided to drink 6 oz. He had a couple of containers of runny baby food 2 hours later and then 6 more oz 3 hours after that. He looks normal again and I got a wet diaper out of him. He hadnt drank a single ounce in 2 days. His voice is still gone but maybe........ hopefully.... I pray that we have turned the corner. Thank you Marilyn!!!!!!!!!!
