probiotics help
So the first gi we saw suggested that we try probiotics with Kody specifically culturelle but we had florastor at home so that's what we used. The florastor has lactose in it so it gave Kody problems. I had read that culturelle for kids is dairy free but when I looked at the ingredients it said contains milk protein. We are mpi. So now I don't know what to get or where to get any. Could anyone help me in my search for this? Thanks!

This is our dd, Alessandra. Dx with GER 10/07. Ran the gamut with meds and now done with them (crossed fingers). Using magnesium, probiotics and prebiotic supplements. With the exception of teething and general sassy attitude, all is well now. They really CAN grow out of it!
Klaire Labs line is pretty much allergy-free

Hypoallergenic ingredients: Probiotics used in Ther-Biotic® Infant Formula are cultured on proprietary vegetable-based growth media free of common allergens including dairy, wheat, gluten, egg, and soy. No sugar, artificial sweeteners, coloring, flavors, or preservatives are used. Inulin, a dietary fiber derived from chicory root, is used as a base ingredient in place of corn-or wheat-derived maltodextrin, often used in other probiotic supplements.

If you want to read more, go to www.protherainc.com and look under the Klaire Labs probiotics. I have an authorization code if you want to order from here - just email me at slimfast13@hotmail.com Meghann

Jan- I can't find the list of ingredients for the biogaia brand. It looks like a promising and easy one to give since Kody is bf but I can't find any info on the allegerns. Meghan- It looks like I could try one of those but I don't have a clue which one to use. Is there a certain one that you have had success at and like? I'm all new to this probiotic thing. Is it very expensive? I'm finding that probiotics aren't cheap. Thanks!

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
I have used ABC dopholis powder by solgar. Dairy Free, hypoallergenic. http://www.solgar.co.uk/modules/shop/view.asp?Prodcode=E10. You have to keep it refrigerated. I got it at a health store I have also used the BioGaia. Here is their site http://www.biogaia.cz/index.cfm?3E965AC8BCDD485EB80B2F997DB5C658. Doesnt look like there is any milk in it.

I started Allie of the TherBiotic Infant powder, but had my dh and my dog on Vital 10 (All for GI purposes), so I switched her at about a year. She's done very well on both. Initially her ped wanted her on the Detoxification formula, but we couldn't afford it at the time.

I'd say start with the Vital 10 and see what happens. It is like meds though - needs time to work. I think we saw improvement in about 10 days for my dd (my hubby about a month and my dog in about 8 weeks). You may have some runny stool for a couple of days while the gut flora is rebalancing. If there's any questions, call Prothera - their customer service has been nothing short of excellent for us. The Vital 10 is 21.90 for a bottle and the Infant Powder is 30.95 I believe (these are '08 prices) They both lasted just under 3 months for us.
