Zegerid for infants/toddlersDoes anyone have any experience with Zegerid for their child? How does it compare to Prevacid? I've heard Zegerid works better and is faster acting and may not have the same side effects that we're seeing with Prevacid (bloating, night terrors, abdominal pain, etc.).

|Hi and welcome to PAGER. I noticed you posted this in the General Beginner and Infant forum as well. I was going to suggest that as that forum tends to get more traffic than this one. I know there are moms who have used Zegrid on the Beginner forum so I am sure they will chime in soon. If you do not get an answer do not hesitate to e-mail me at RackleyFive@cox.net. I may be able to find I volunteer who has used it in their child. |
One of mine used Zantac and one used Prevacid so I am not a huge help in that area. We did not have any bad side effects from either of those medications. I also was given Nexium for my daughter to try if the prevacid didn't help. Thankfully the prevacid did work. You may ask about Nexium as well if you are searching for an alternative to Prevacid.
Nexium, Prevacid and Zegrid are all PPI's but Zegrid contains an added antacid. It is possible that a different medicine could work when you have had problems with prevacid. A lot of parents will find sucess with one med and not another... all kids are different in how they react to medications.
If you do switch to Zegrid be sure to check out the website, they have a coupon to apply toward your copay.
