Almost afraid to believe it's true...
...and certainly leery of saying it aloud, but Lorenzo is eating solids like a normal toddler! He had started eating some solids, and at least a tiny bit every day back in January, but we started seeing a new Chinese Medicine Practitioner last week, and the day after his first treatment he ate dinner...twice in one night. It was totally unprecedented. He wants to eat in the morning, which was an absolute no-go before, and he now asks for food when he is hungry in addition to agreeing to eat it when I offer it. I can't quite believe it.

And the kicker is....drum roll please....he has now slept for 4 hours in a row, twice!!!! That is an hour longer than he has ever slept in two years. And not only that, for the past two nights, instead of nursing to sleep, he has decided on his own that he is done nursing and then rolled over and fallen asleep on his own! I'm telling you, after two years of waking AT LEAST 5-10 times per night and nursing to sleep since he was 5 months old, I never thought we'd get here.

And all this while he has URI number 18 in 10 months. I know now from experience that there is a constant ebb and flow to improvements, but I am finally feeling like there is a tiny bright light at the end of a tunnel that I thought, just a few weeks ago, was in danger of collapsing. So dance a little happy dance for us, if you would, cause I AM GOING TO SLEEP!!!!

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
YAY for Lorenzo! Improvement is improvement - even with the ebb and flows :) I am so happy you are getting some sleep. I know that it has been such a struggle for you.

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
That is incredible!!! How in the world did you find a Chinese Medicine Practitioner? What do they do differently? I bet you want to hug him!

Well, the sleep didn't last...but the eating has! One out of two ain't bad! Besides, I'm not even sure I know how to sleep anymore. I may need some sleep training for myself down the road... :)
