need feedback: WHAT TO DO NEXT
Well this is what's going on. We have been on axid for about 2 weeks now and we had seen some improvement in Kody. He had a few nights that he slept better and has been happier. Then I got sick and had to be put on antibiotics. I bf so it affects him too. We have been giving probiotics which started to thicken his stools. Then since Sat night hes been really gassy, fussy, and having runny stool again. His reflux is worse too. Do you all think it could just be the antibiotics in his system? I don't know how to make him feel better either. He had 3 runny stools in the middle of the night and was fussy all night. I think he's also teething. I swear when it rains it pours in our house. I don't know if I should wait it out. Plus if I do call doctor I don't know whether to call the gi or the ped. He also had a very mucousy stool that looked like gel in his diaper this morning. He hasn't had that for a little while. Do you think that it's time to try another med? I know I have a lot of questions and info on here. I just know that you all have so much good advice to help out. It's miserable around here. I have to go now my lo is crying again. I think he needs more tylenol. Will this ride end soon? Thanks everyone!

Julie - I have three children. My youngest Katie is my refluxer. My first Ben was very colicy and is ADHD. My middle Jakob is pretty easy going. Katie had it bad as a baby no sleep for two years. She was on Nutramagin, Prevacid and Zantac. Thought we were through it but after age three it came back big time. After her scope she was put on Prevacid 45mg a day and mylanta as needed. Scope was in Sept. Showed damage in stomach and espophogus. It took about 7 months of medication and Reflux diet for her to start feeling better.
Sorry to hear that you are on a down hill of the roller coaster. Don't worry you'll be going up soon :)

It could be the antibiotics in his system or maybe he has a little virus too. Are you almost done with your antibx?

Maybe give it a couple days and treat him with Tylenol & Mylanta. I would call the GI just to check in and get their perspective.

It could def me the antibiotic. I would wait till you are done with the antibiotics and see if he improves. Also, I would call the pharmacist and see how long they last in your system once you have taken all the pills. Also, does Kody have any MSPI issues? If so, you might want to ask the pharmacist about the ingredients in the antiobiotics. It could be a specific thing in there that is causing the problems.

Maggie is now 3 years old and reflux free (knock on wood). I still check in some to see how everybody is doing :) Hugs to all!
I agree with the pps. It could be the ant. and it may take a few days after you're done for him to be normal. It's so hard to know...but I'd give it a little while.

I was thinking about the who to call part. When I took Mags to an allergist, he said I could bring her there for everything related to that from now on. I don't have to go through the ped at all. It's the same with her ENT. My opinion is: once you have a specialist in your corner, why bother with the ped? Basically our ped does well checks and the allergist said to take her to the ped if she has a fever.

I don't know how long it will take to get there but I promise, you will get to the "easy part". It's sad how much illnesses and stress bother these little ones.

So I changed a couple more poopy diapers since I posted and now they're bright green and one was firmer. I think that it must be the antibiotics messing with his system. I only have a few more days left to take them thank God. He's been so fussy today and wanting to sleep little catnaps all day. So it's been a little exhausting to try and keep him happy at all. I think I just needed a little perspective. I will wait it out and see what happens after the antibx. and see if he improves. The original nurse practitioner we saw for Kody's first gi appt is no longer there. We are reassigned to a new gi already but haven't seen him yet. Will see him in May so it's hard to know what to do in these situations. I guess he could have what I had which I felt like my throat was going to burn off. Well I'm trying to hang in there with yet another fussy day. My house will def have to be messy yet another day. Thanks!

Most probiotics are grown on milk; could it be that?

We're on florastor probiotic which I know has lactose in it but it seems to have been working for him. I didn't know that most probiotics had milk in them. That's good to know. I'm hoping all this clears up soon if not we're back to the drawing board. He's been really lethargic today and fussy and not eating as much so I def think he's come down with something. I'm crossing my fingers that he has a better night and at least sleeps a couple hours at a time.
Check with your
doctor first!
