My stubborn Monster
I just wanted to share our awful story from radiology yesterday. My son was supposed to have another UGI yesterday which ended up being a no-go because he wouldn't drink the barium. The same thing happened last time and they ended up putting a ng tube in to get it down. They called the GI and he said since we were going to scope anyways not to torture him with the ng tube. The best part of the story though is the awful radiologists we had this time. First of all I explained what happened to us last time and she was like well all kids like our strawberry drink. Well not my kid. She said you must not have had our concoction before because all the kids love it! Again, we had our last two done here and yes my son hates it! So then the radiologist comes in and he says why isn't he drinking it. I don't know because this is his 4th UGI and he knows what is coming. He says well he is just controlling you, be the parent and make him drink it! I was so pissed I wanted to walk out. So he tries to make him drink some and literally Aidan fills his mouth up and spits it out all over him and the entire exam room. I almost laughed in the radiologists face. So he says we will just let you guys walk around for a few hours until he drinks it. I said he is starving right now if he isn't eating it now he won't eat it 3 hours from now either. So then he called GI and we ended the session. I am so done with that hospital. I will only go to a Children's hospital from now on even if it is a 3 hour drive.

Ryan was born May 20th 2008. 9 lbs 2 oz. Ryan’s magic bullet was 30mg of Prevacid capsules mixed with Caracream from Marci-kids (I am forever indebted to the team at Marci-kids), Claratin for the mucos, and Mirlax for the constipation. Within 2 months of this combo he jumped from the 6% to the 50% for weight and continues to climb. Be strong, listen to your instincts. Read his story for more specifics that just might help you too - Karen
Good boy!!!! That radiologist deserved a mouth full of it. Of course your story makes me nervious for Tuesday though. Ryan is getting scoped and then the UGI. Thinking I might be in for it when I try to get him to drink "the stuff" He is on his 3rd drinking strike at the moment so this should be interesting.

Strong, Beautiful, daughter who is thriving beyond imagination and a healthy, happy 3 year old.
I am sorry that a he was that thoughtless and rude. Sometimes, it seems they are so numb, they don't realize they are working with human beings anymore.

I am glad your son speaks for himself in whatever way he finds possible. Way to go.

Check with your
doctor first!
